Happy Thanksgiving!

In as much as the great Father has given us this year an abundant harvest of Indian corn, wheat, peas, beans, squash, and garden vegetables, and has made the forests to abound with game and the sea with fish and clams, and inasmuch as he has protected us from the ravages of the savages, has spared us from pestilence and disease, has granted us freedom to worship God according to the dictates of our own conscience.
Now I, your magistrate, do proclaim that all ye Pilgrims, with your wives and your little ones, do gather at the meeting house, on the hill, between the hours of 9 and 12 in the day time, on Thursday, November 29th, of the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and twenty-three and the third year since ye Pilgrims landed on ye Pilgrim Rock, there to listen to ye pastor and render thanksgiving to ye Almighty God for all His blessings.

- William Bradford (The first Thanksgiving Day Proclamation)

We have so much to be thankful for, especially through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Happy Holidays!

Cake in a Cup!

A few weeks ago I had the privilege to spend some time with my friend James Zhang as he was traveling from Toledo to Louisiana. It's nice getting to catch up with an old friend, especially to see how God is working in his life and what roads lay ahead.  We were surprisingly bestowed with the cup cakes from Toledo's Cake in a Cup, winners from the Food Network show "Cup Cake Wars."  Personally, I could care less for the show but it's nice to eat some good treats once in a while.  James Zhang, you're the man!

Solid Ground Christian Books: New Release: Covenant Theology

A few weeks ago I had the chance to work with Solid Ground Christian Books here in Birmingham as they released a new set of books: Covenant Theology by Greg Nichols and Selective Sermons from John Calvin.  From my experience, trips to some Christian book stores leaves me disoriented and flustered because of the myriad of books on various topics. Some better than others. So with the holidays just around the corner, peruse through the website and get a great gift for your family and friends or ME.

One of my favorite books they offered has been Pastor's Sketches by Ichabod Spencer. Its reflection and accounts are encouraging for individuals in ministry or walking daily with the Lord because of its lessons and image of God's faithfulness.

Maternity: Kanosha

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to take maternity photos for soon-to-be-mother Kanosha.  We were able to enjoy some nice weather and get some good shots at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.  I'm excited for the new parents, and I hope you all enjoy the photos.

Wedding Preview: Ryan and Lauren

Wilson Family Photos

Ever since my wife and I started attending Grace Covenant Baptist Church here in Birmingham, the Wilson family has played a large role in encouraging us spiritually.  Mrs. Judy was the first person to approach us when we first visited, and she made us feel so welcome.  It has been a blessing getting to know the Wilson family over the past couple years and hearing about God's provision in sustaining Mr. Doug's life after 2 strokes.  This past year, Mr. Doug and Mrs. Judy celebrated their 50th anniversary, and I am honored to be able to witness and learn from such a godly example.  I hope you enjoy these family photos!

Birthday Celebration: Julia Benson

Last Friday, I had the opportunity to take photos for Julia Benson, my former business manager at Advanced Eye Care.  Looking back, it has been a blessing getting to know her and wouldn't trade my experience at the office for anything.  So I was pretty thrilled when she asked me to capture this special time as she celebrates another year the Lord has given her.  Happy Birthday Mrs. Julia!

Save the Date - Amy and Dan

This past week I had the chance to take Save the Date photos for Amy and Dan. Since Dan is a pilot, we decided to take some photos in north Birmingham by the airport.  They were pretty laid back, so everything went pretty smooth and fast.  We chose to use planes as our backdrop which made for some pretty great photos.  In fact, there was one tiny plane nicknamed baby blue that was pretty cool.  It isn't everyday you get to use a small jet as your background.  Below is a photo of Amy and Dan by baby blue and another jet as our background.

Hope you enjoy the photos!

Brad and Karina Allen Wedding

Congratulations to Brad and Karina for tying the knot!  The Allens were a lot of fun to shoot, especially since they were up for whatever, making things easier for me.  The weather was great and the venue at Shoal Creek Country Club was even better.  The country club setting gave me a lot to work with. It was nice having the choice of doing photos inside or outside.

I captured the following photos with two prime lenses to see how the photos turned out, and I was pleasantly surprised.  I was also testing my new flash and flash transmitters and still feel pretty undecided which types of photos I like better.  Flash lighting or natural lighting?  I personally like natural light better but flash just provides different opportunities (and problems).

There were so many photos to choose, so I am posting a little more than I usually do.  I hope you enjoy the photos!
