Its a Beagle Kind of Life
The rest of the photos from this day could be seen or ordered here.
I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.
- C.S. Lewis
The weather in Birmingham has been rough to say the least. It's cold. Windy. Rainy. We even had a little snow. I lost count, but I don't think I saw the sun for seven days straight. Nevertheless, I refused to stay indoors this Lord's day and decided to spend some time outside and take Pepper (my beagle) to the dog park. To my delight, others joined in a celebratory spirit that said, yes it's finally ok to go outside without fourteen layers of clothes. The sun makes me happy.
Below are photos I snapped of all the little ones that decided to come out. By the way, if you are thinking of getting a dog, get a beagle. And adopt. And you need to check out the SOS Beagle Rescue in Birmingham. They came today in full force. I'm just saying, when the beagles show up, it's their world and all the other dogs are just in it.

Joe and Ruth Mayo 50th Wedding Anniversary
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to take photos for Joe and Ruth Mayo for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. It was pretty awesome getting to hear their story and step back in time with their family and friends. Overall, there was a formal side and a redneck side and decorations made to reflect what their wedding was like fifty years ago. Apparently, RC Cola and moon pies were all the rage. What I also learned was the fact that this family loved to laugh and enjoy what the Lord has given them. With guest who were present on their original wedding day and children (and grand children and great grand children), this was a great time to celebrate what was really important - their commitment to one another before God. Fifty years is a long time and it was encouraging to hear how they've faced certain challenges and overcame various odds to still remain together. In the end, it really is the sustaining power of God above and that commitment they made before him fifty years earlier. Here are a few of my favorite photos!

Advanced Eye Care: Staff Photos
A few weeks ago I took some staff photos for Advanced Eye Care here in Homewood, AL. I had a chance to use my flashes in this setting and really liked how the photos turned out even though there were multiple mirrors, glasses, and reflective material. This is definitely a place you need to check out.

Carver Family Photos 2012
Here are a few photos from my time with the Carvers. The weather was really nice and people were definitely out and about. It made for a challenging day to make sure people were out of the shot but I was up for it. Hope you guys enjoy!

Journey's Third Birthday
I'm so glad I had the opportunity to hang out with the Greene's this week and capture Journey's third birthday. Birthdays are a good time for family and friends to hang out and be together. It was really a blessing to share this time with their family. Since daylight savings, the weather has been great and it really made for some great photos. Hope you guys enjoy!

Update
This is long overdue, but I'd like to share with everyone what's happened these past few months. Hopefully my photography can give you an opportunity to appreciate some of the things seen along the way.
Since the last update, my wife and I completed a three-day road trip from Birmingham, AL to Los Angeles, CA. Here are a few of the highlights.
We made stops in Baton Rouge (LA), Dallas (TX), and Albuquerque (NW). As we passed through New Mexico, we were stopped in our tracks because of a snow storm. First signs that this will be our first and last road trip across the country.
One of the first things my wife and I had a chance to do was taste a few of the town's treats. [Sprinkles - Beverly Hills]
If you are ever in southern California and want some authentic Vietnamese food, go to Little Saigon or "Phuoc Loc Tho" in Garden Grove. Yes friends, he is eating a chicken embryo.
Santa Monica pier. Everyone takes this photo, but I still had to take and post it.
Above was taken from the Kodak center. Believe it or not, I'm 23 pounds lighter (and still going) since this photo.
We took our beagle to the dog beach at Huntington. After chasing her across the whole dog beach, I learned that it's not a good idea to let her off her leash...ever!
Pepper displaying her "bah humbug" spirit on Christmas eve.
Sunset in Arizona while we were driving home.
