Life. Downtown. Flash Photography.

April is wrapping up and I just wanted to post a few pictures from these past few months before the crazy storm. I've been experimenting more with the equipment I have and hope that I could share it with you. As usual, I am a work in progress but I hope that you enjoy the photos.

Lee Family Portraits

Yesterday afternoon I had the privilege to take some family photos for the Lee family here in downtown Birmingham, Alabama.  The Lee's were up for anything so we decided to stroll around and see what we could find.  The whole family is pretty natural in front of the camera, including their youngest daughter Cadence, making the photo shoot a lot of fun.  I hope you guys enjoy the photos!

Carver Family Portraits

Today I had a chance to take some photos of the Carver family.  They all had a lot of energy and were lots of fun to shoot.  Here are a few photos from today, I hope you enjoy!

Moss Rock Preserve

Last week I had the chance to go hiking at Moss Rock Preserve here in Hoover, Alabama.  We took our dog Pepper on her first hike and man did she have a good time!  Her nose was just going the entire time, smelling all the different things on the trail.

Daniel and Julie Davis - Baby on the Way Part II

I just finished processing the photos and thought I'd share a few more shots.  I hope you enjoy the photos and let me know what you think.  As for Daniel and Julie - Congratulations, you're going to be parents in just a few short weeks!

Daniel and Julie Davis - Baby on the Way!

Today I had the privilege to take maternity photos for Daniel and Julie Davis.  After yesterdays horrible weather, today cleared up for some amazing lighting.  There are so many shots that turned out great but I wanted to post a few previews of my favorites.  More to come!

Doheny Beach South Orange County.

These are a few pictures at Doheny Beach in Orange County, CA. Doheny is probably one of the best beaches to check out if you want to learn how to surf.  The waves won't kill you, the area has plenty of parking (you can pay for a day pass or hour by hour), and getting to the beach doesn't require that you walk very far. The latter is probably most important if you are using a long board. Unfortunately, with its slow rolling waves and popularity, I can see this place being super crowded in the summer.  Its not always fun catching a wave with four people you don't know.

When surfing, respect the waves. They are merciless, unlike God.

And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever. - Revelations 22:5

James pretty much showed me where and how to surf when I was still in California.  More than surfing, he was one of the brothers that showed me that building my life on the solid rock is the only way to live.  As C.S. Lewis said, "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else."

Irvine.

Yesterday I had a chance to take some photos with my friend Mikey here in Irvine before I went to Bible study at Berean Community Church.  Its so nice to be back in Orange County to spend time with old friends and to see how things have changed and also stayed the same.

The area is so nice, I'm glad I was able to snap a few photos before the clouds moved in.
