Baby on the Way and Bowling Family Portraits

The Bowlings have a baby on the way!  In less than two weeks, their family will once again be blessed with another child.  I felt honored that they asked me to capture this exciting time (and transition) in their life as they await the big day. The weather was amazing, so I'm pretty glad we had the opportunity to go outside and take some great photos.  Hope you guys enjoy!

Birmingham Area Band: Theatrix

A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege to do a photo shoot for Theatrix, a local band in the Birmingham area.  I got in touch with them through Darryell Stone, their bassist, who let me know they were interested in getting some photos of the band.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from that day!

The band plays a mix of modern and classic rock songs dating back to the 70's. If you are interested, you can catch their music here, or check them out on Facebook or live around the city.

Dean Family Portraits

Thanks for dropping by and looking around!  Here is a quick update about the blog.  Last week I took the leap and bought a domain name. It feels weird but with alittle prodding from my brother-in-law, he pointed me in the right direction.  In the end, it is still a blog and I hope that it could be something you wouldn't mind stopping by and checking out.

Here are a few photos from the Dean family.  They were so natural and loving towards one another it was hard not to capture the fun they were having. In the past Josh has always been a cell phone call away if I needed some wisdom about flooring or save me from random DIY projects that went wrong. He is definitely the man!  We took some time to walk around downtown Birmingham and just took our chances. I hope you guys enjoy the photos!

Last week I had the chance to spend some time with the Deans for a photo shoot downtown.  We were greeted with a nice breeze and some zombies along the way.  Stay tune for more of their photos.

Audrey Olivia Nguyen - First Photo Shoot Part II

I just finished going over photos of Audrey for Tim and Halena and man, I'm so happy for them.   Audrey is such a beautiful, strong, and curious baby, I can't believe that she is already three months old.  What a blessing from God!  I'm glad that I had the opportunity to capture this exciting time in their lives and to spend time with them. Hope you enjoy!

For the moms, like my sister-in-law Halena, Happy Mother's day.  I had a lot of fun spending time with my new niece Audrey that I had to post up a few of my favorite pictures of her!  I'm still working on the rest but here is a sneak peek!

Chau and Tam Engagement: Vietnamese STYLE

Last weekend, I had the privilege to take engagement ceremony photos for our friends Chau and Tam in Baton Rouge.  They chose to do a traditional engagement which involved a lot of their families, gifts, and food.  Nothing quite gets your attention like a whole roasted pig getting carried down the street.  In the past few years Chau and Tam have had a chance to work a lot with the youth at Vietnamese Hope Baptist Church in Baton Rouge and I couldn't help but come away encouraged with the type of support they have from their community.

Entourage of gifts being carried down the street.

Patiently awaiting the arrival of Tam and his family.

I love me some Vietnamese food, especially "shaking beef" (our third item in this 7 course meal).

As they begin their journey towards the big day, I'm reminded of a recent wedding I had the opportunity to attend.  Like many weddings, the few days before are hectic, characterized with last minute details and managing the various parts that make a wedding successful.  As important as these details were, one thing eventually stood out - we were constantly reminded to not be concerned with the aesthetics of the wedding but instead consider how glorifying the ceremony will be to God.  "Even though these two are in love, lets not forget the greater love story that is going on.  This is only a shadow of something greater.  God's love for us is demonstrated in his Son, Jesus Christ, who died for our sins."

Although this was only an engagement ceremony, I hope they'll enjoy the blessing that God has given them and not to forget the blesser Himself.  Can't wait to see you guys on your big day!
